Hardware check up

Z-Axis and Build Platform

Please check these screws. 8 on the Build Plate Arm, 2 on z-axis from the front side. 6 on the build platform that is holding the vat. (3 on each side)

From the back of the machine, double check to make sure Z-axis is mounted securely by checking these 8 screws

You can also use common engine oil like 5w-30 to lubricate the Z-axis rod.

Tilt Mechanism

This is the most frequent area of problem for users and the most comprehensive part of the check guide.

A frequent installation mistake in the black metal part of platform going into the Silver Metal piece in not center and it would rub against each other during layer change / peeling.

This is also a good time to make sure the Platform is centered and not rubbing against Platform Cover. You can adjust the Platform by loosing the screws on the Silver colored brackets on each end of the metal bar.

You can center the black metal piece and the Platform by moving the Platform via loosening the screws on the Silver colored brackets on each end of the metal bar

Check these 6 screws to make sure they are fully tightened, and the metal rod is locked. This is what you will see when looking in from the left frame side:

Make sure these parts of platform are secured too

Check the PM motor and see if it is secured mounted:

Also check these screws and see the rod in the PM motor is straight. DO NOT use engine oil to lubricate PM motor!

Move the build plate to see if it touches the cover. If it does, it may cause sudden layer shift:

Check the acrylic cover and galvo mirrors and make sure they are not dusty or covered

Laser and Galvo position

Check the laser / galvo and see if they are mounted in the correct position. The tip of laser head should be flat on the fixture, not sticking out and sunk in. Please also make sure both X/Y Galvos are pushed in all the way in their sockets.

You learn about how to adjust their positions in the advanced calibration guide
