How to level with Moai's new easy to level plate

Tool needed: M3 Wrench (included in Moai kit)

The printing side of the build plate is not oxidized to improve adhesion.

For FEP vat

1. Loosen all 4 screws on the build plate, 2 on each side.

2. Install the build plate with loose screws and tighten plate to the arm by turning the black knob.

3. Make sure FEP vat is inserted all the way and secured. Make sure the side of vat with the thinnest wall is facing to the Z-axis.

4. Set Z-reset to 1815 in the Advanced settings menu to lower the build plate.

See how the build plate hits the fep vat.

5. Tighten the screws on the build plate to set leveling. It is best to tighten one screw on the right side first and then do one left side. Then tightened the rest of the screws. Use your fingers to lightly press on the corners of the side you are tightening.

6. Set the Z-reset to 1816.

7. To check level, run DIY-Test and see if all corner pegs have a length between 10.0 to 10.9mm. If so, your Moai is leveled and ready to print. If not, repeat from step 1. (Do not attempt to adjust the screws under vat platform when using easy to level build plate)

Leveling Note for FEP vat: Because FEP vat is more durable than PDMS, it can handle a much wider varience in plate pressure (represented by peg height). A 10.3mm peg height would be fine on FEP vat yet could shorten the lifespan of a PDMS vat.

For PDMS vat

1. Loosen all 4 screws on the build plate, 2 on each side.

2. Install the build plate with loose screws and tighten plate to the arm by turning the black knob

3. Make sure the PDMS vat is inserted all the way and secured.

4. Set the Z-reset to 1877 in the Advanced Settings menu to lower the build plate.

5. Tighten the screws on the build plate to set leveling. It is best to tighten one screw on the right side first and then do one on the left side. Then tightened the rest of the screws. Use your fingers to lightly press on the corners of the side you are tightening.

6. Set the Z-reset to 1878.

7. To check level, run DIY-Test and see if all corner pegs have a length between 10.6 to 10.9mm. If so, your Moai is ready to print. The user can increase z-reset to reduce the corner pegs height as needed without releveling. If the deviation between the pegs is too wide (ex one peg is 10.5mm and the other peg is 1mm), please repeat from step 1.

(Do not attempt to adjust the screws under vat platform when using easy to level build plate).
